BRLA Rules of the Association and Code of Practice

All members of the Association are required to comply with the following:

1.    Rules of the Association

The Rules of the Association define the structure and operation of the BRLA

2.    Code Of Practice

The aim of the Code Of Practice is to provide a statement of standards that members are expected to observe in connection with the letting of their own residential properties.  It is designed to raise and maintain standards and as such it sets out statements of good practice, and seeks to promote good relations between landlord and tenant by ensuring a good standard of service to tenants.  This will also enable the image of the Association and the Private Rented Sector in general to be improved and enhanced.

Compliance with the Code should not be an added burden to most landlords, because it enshrines current minimum standards.  Help and assistance with all of these matters is regularly provided at meetings, where a wealth of experience and good practice from other landlords is available.

3.    Laws relevant to the Private Rented Sector
